The Common Application (informally known as the Common App) is an undergraduate college admission application accepted by nearly 900 schools, including some colleges located outside the U.S. The application helps streamline the essential parts of the admissions process for students. Member institutions may also require unique college-specific questions, and ask additional questions
The following checklist should help keep you on track as you work towards submitted applications. For each school you are applying to through the Common App, you need to make sure you do the following:
❏ Complete all parts of the application (within each section, a green checkbox will appear once you have satisfied all elements)
❏ Make sure you have added all recommenders for the school
❏ Paste in essays—including all smaller, supplemental responses
❏ Order test scores to be sent to the college
❏ Order transcripts to be sent to the college (from ALL high schools and colleges attended)
❏ Submit the application prior to the deadline
NOTE: for some Common App schools, you need to submit the application section and the writing sections separately; some high school require letters of recommendations submitted through Naviance.
When in doubt, follow-up with a school to ensure that they have received all elements of your application. Things do get lost!
